Sequins and Social Justice: Ally Training for the Burlesque Community

  • Amala Foundation 1006 S 8th St Austin, TX, 78704 United States (map)

The Central Texas Queerlesque Community is happy to announce this special workshop from Lillith Grey. The event is open to our members, as well as the Austin Burlesque Alliance, the Austin Academy of Burlesque, and burlesque and drag performers and producers.

Through a mixture of lecture, discussion, and hands-on activities, you’ll learn practical skills for identifying and challenging oppression while maintaining positive and growth-oriented relationships.

let’s talk about
Power ~ Privilege ~ Hegemony
Racial justice ~ Queer issues
Cultural appropriation
Active allyship
and MORE!

If you plan to attend (a firm yes--maybes make it hard for us to plan), please send an email to Lillith per the flyer (thegraciousmind@gmail.com) and state an affiliation (ABA, for example). CTQC asks that you contribute to an honorarium for Lillith and rental of the space. (Suggested donation $10-15 cash). We may have to cap the number or create two sessions if demand is high, so check back with this page.

We are really excited about this opportunity to grow as a community.
